This video exhibits the transition of thoroughbreds from race horse to western careers. The focus in this particular video is trail riding and trail course obstacles. Thoroughbreds can also excel in gaming, western pleasure, showing, barrel racing and rodeo events, just to name a few.

The horses in this video come from a variety of backgrounds.

Suerte – 2001 gelding, raced twice (retired in 2005), began training as a trail horse in 2008. Now used as a mountain horse, pony, parade mount, ridden by beginners from ages 9 – 90.

Cypress – 2003 gelding that raced 12 times, came to PK training in 2013 to begin training as a trail horse. Ridden by youth and beginners.

Sombra – 2004 mare that raced once in 2009. Sombra came to PK training from the track, was transitioned into a trail career and then rehomed.

Heater – 2009 unraced thoroughbred filly, just started under saddle in May of 2013. Will be used as a trail horse.
