Horse racing trainer Peter Fahey began training in 2010 and gained his first winner when Intyre Trail landed an apprentice handicap under Ronan Whelan at Dundalk that year. More than 100 winners and nearly 10 years later Peter is chasing a dream, to train a Cheltenham Festival winner. We spent the day with Peter and asked him what makes Cheltenham Festival so special for a trainer.

Soviet Pimpernel was primed for a big race in the 2020 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle when we filmed this, and finished a valiant 9th in the race won by Shishkin. This year, Peter will have more hopes to take with him to Prestbury Park.

Fahey also enjoyed a successful career as an amateur jockey and rode close to 100 winners including the likes of Bust Out, Red Damson and Publican.
